Lifelong Learning Centres Launch Summer Programs

More than 150 Lifelong Learning Centres around Australia have launched Summer Programs featuring exciting new play-based learning experiences to run through December 2019 and January 2020.

An additional ‘Lifelong Learning School Readiness’ intensive program is on offer at many centres to support preschool children to finalise their transition to primary school in 2020.

Affinity Education Group CEO Tim Hickey said he was delighted by the variety of Summer Programs on offer around Australia.

"Our Centre Managers and educators put their heart and soul into these programs to deliver high quality - and seriously fun - early learning experiences for the children who attend our centres," Mr Hickey said.

"When so many child care centres are winding down for December and January - our Lifelong Learning Centres are absolutely buzzing with new and interesting lifelong learning every day," he said.

Inspired by six 'Healthy Children' themes – Minds, Bodies, Food, World, Families and Community - Lifelong Learning Summer Program runs through December and January for long day care and out of school hours children. Activities are specific to each centre, and some of the program highlights include sign-language classes, chick hatching programs, bring your pet day, cooking classes, bush kindy excursions and safety incursions.

Some other exciting activities include:
  • Yoga days
  • Insect exploration
  • Puppet shows
  • Sports carnival days
  • Pen pal letter writing
  • School buddy day
  • Craft days
  • Water play days
... and so much more!

Questions to ask on your family centre tour

When touring childcare centres for the first time it can be overwhelming.

As the saying goes, ‘first impressions’ count, but taking the time to ask deeper questions and really find out what your early education and childcare centre has to offer you and your child will always be time well spent.
